Project 1B: Film & Sequence

The artwork (The Clock) was taken by video artist Christian Marclay. The work appeared in the museum's screening room after it was awarded. The artist Marclay collects a large number of movie clips. Although these different types of movie clips record different times, different places and different events, the director uses the time in the clips to record the time and the timing of the behavior and the actions of the characters. The clips are sorted and combined together, and finally the movie is stitched together. The clock that frequently appeared in the movie became the main focus of attention. The focus of the movie filmed by artist Marclay that attracts the audience is to express different times in different scenes in unexpected ways. The clock in this movie can keep the audience completely silent in the movie. The audience hardly cares about the surrounding time while watching the movie, because the time recorded in the movie matches the time in reality.

The series of fragments that make up the whole are inspired by the work of director Marclay. I will learn how the artist Marclay shoots and combine many fragmented fragments into a one-step movie in a specific order. My work will record my daily life and the work to be done in a day, and finally this series of scattered fragments will be sorted, and finally put together.

The video I shot was shot through a fixed and moving perspective, the purpose is to record my work and life. This point is also learning (The Clock) director Marclay. Director Marclay uses a fixed third perspective to record the content of the film. This can be clearly seen in The Clock. The video shoots the characters and background from the third person perspective. More realism is emphasized, this kind of shooting effect is more specific than using the first person, and the shooting space is more convenient, without being restricted by the problem of vision. Therefore, in order to learn the shooting techniques of Director Marclay, I will express the information I want to convey by recording the details of different situations.
In terms of shooting technology, I chose to use different lenses to switch repeatedly. This is very detailed in Marclay's movie (The Clock). The switched lenses are good for expressing the key points and details in the scene and driving the mood of the audience.

In conclusion, watching and learning the movie directed by Marclay (The Clock) made me greatly inspired when shooting works, and I also applied the technique of lens switching to my works. I was deeply moved by the spirit of the artist Marclay's work, especially this outstanding movie (Clock).
